MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the George Peabody House Museum is to collect, preserve and interpret the life and legacy of philanthropist and native son George Peabody. The museum’s collection currently includes paper materials produced by George Peabody and objects and materials relating to his philanthropic endeavors and legacy. George Peabody was one of the first American philanthropist, donating millions of dollars for worthy causes before his death in 1869. The goal of the George Peabody House Museum collection is to document his work with the collection of material culture.

Permanent Collection: Come visit the house that the first American philanthropist was born in! The George Peabody House Museum houses many original artifacts including portraits of George Peabody and his acquaintances, handwritten business letters to his associates, newspaper articles about George Peabody and Queen Victoria as well as glassware dedicated to various Peabody institutes.
